Chris Grant Does It Again! GENIUS!

FUCK YOU, CAKES!
Before we get into today’s basketball post, may we discuss this week’s POLAR VORTEX first? The award-winning author here says that we can. If you are reading this, congratulations on making it through the goddamn freezing-est ass cold that I’ve ever experienced. Man, did that suck or what? My dog and I have a tradition where we go for a walk around the block at around 10 pm every night. We did this on Monday and last night. NOT A GOOD IDEA. Granted, I felt like a fucking bad ass strutting my stuff in a -35 wind chill but I was wearing two scarves and two stocking caps (along with paper thin flannel pajama pants because that makes sense) so I was likely not nearly as cool as I thought. But since one of the scarves was a promotional Blue Jackets scarf, it looks like I’m back to being a bad ass! We didn’t get shit for snow down here; just penis-shriveling winds so all of you poor bastards up north can eat my ass.

I do not want to ever put up with that weather system again. GIVE IT A REST, Old Man Winter. But you know what is ELITE? Two football teams played a playoff game in that crap on Sunday night. I have so much respect for the 49ers and Packers now. They spent 4 hours smacking each other around in that while I refused to take the garbage outside. In conclusion, Cakes had to LOVE this and it is why we all hate him so very much. Let’s talk about hoops for a hot minute (just two topics but feel free to add your own).

*Ohio State played Michigan State last night in East Lansing. This is being written well before tip-off and I won’t watch the game at all because JUSTIFIED premiered last night so you all can say what you want about the game in the comments (and Justified, too). I think it’s nice that the Fuckeyes are finally playing someone though. It only took them two months to schedule a non-NAIA team. In a sport that is trending toward all the big boys playing each other in the non-conference portion of the schedule, Ohio seems to be going in the other direction. Hey, if you don’t need an RPI then what does it matter? Worse out of conference schedule: Ohio Football or Ohio Basketball? I hope that my boy, Gary Harris, beat that apple-cheeked queerbate by 50.

*Welcome to Believeland, Luol Deng! The Iron Shiek’s least favorite basketball player, Andrew Bynum and his cheeseburger tits, is now officially gone from Cleveland as Chris Grant shipped him off to Chicago for the versatile SF. The Cavs gave up 3 draft picks (2 seconds from Portland and that mythical first rounder from Sacramento that will never actually be used because it requires the Kings to not draft in the top ten). So basically, it comes down to the Cavs addressing the worst positional situation in all of sports (worse than Browns QB) with a pretty good player that plays both ends and the Bulls got cap relief and garbage picks (and can now start tanking). I see no downside here for the Cavs. I don’t want to tank. I WANT TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. Deng can definitely help with that (the Cavs are 11-23 yet only 4.5 games out of the goddamn FIVE seed in the East). You can’t just keep tanking; eventually you have to win something. Why not now? A starting 5 of Kyrie, Waiters/Jack/Miles, Deng, TT, and Andy is pretty good if they can stay on the floor. At least now we have a legitimate #2 scorer. The only downside is if Deng balls out and Grant gives him some sort of horrible extension like 4 years/50 million or something. But I want to believe that he is too smart to do that since we need LeBron money. Because why wouldn’t the best athlete on the planet want to return to this model organization! But I’d love to hear the opinions from the side of Bulls fans (Prime and Larry…not really though so don’t feel obligated).

That will do it for today. As always, since I don’t watch a ton of hoops this time of year, feel free to insert your takes in the comments (Ide). Tomorrow, I feel like I might write-up some sort of college football year in review. I don’t know. Whatever. All I know is that Luol Deng was the missing piece to a championship and he will play great next to future Hall of Famer (and current Cavs best player) Matthew Dellavedova! Man, if he wasn’t on my team, I would hate that guy so much. LOVE U DELLY!

It's a deal the Bulls had to make. I'm sad to see deng go as he is a versaltal player and he is perfect for Tibs system. his price value is too expensive for a 28 year old player going on 35 as Tibs has ran him like a rented mule for the last three season.

If you are going to tank then this is the year to do it which is why this trade does not make sense for the Cavs. I find it highly unlikely that they resign Deng and if they too it's going to be an expensive. At best you make the playoffs and get swept by pacers/heat.

Now the question is do the bulls amesty Boozer this offseason and who else are they willing to part ways with this season.

Just collecting lottery picks and throwing them out there does not work. You have to grow. Deng is a saavy veteran and will hopefully be able to pull the team together. You get the six seed and you can win a series. They have the talent to get the six seed (not the coaching though).

I think that Deng is their LeBron insurance (which, lesbionest, is not going to happen).

If CJ Miles is going to hit 10 3's every night then I will see all ya'll in the NBA Finals, BRAH!

I hate to say it but Ohio would have won last night if Aaron Craft was MORE of a faggot than usual. Not sure what that means outside of him being gay.

It's the NBA so I want my team to either be a contender or in the lottery. Making the playoffs does nothin for you. This is not the NFL or MLB where a team can get hot and make a run. Making the playoffs as a sixth seed and winning a series will only give you false hope.

You know how you say the Browns lost the Richardson trade? Same thing goes for the Cavs in this case. No matter the outcome the Cavs lose because they always lose

It's hard coming away from a loss happy, but that is pretty much what happened last night. To go into East Lansing in that kind of weather (lol Izzo), be down like that and come all the way back with a chance to win it (SCOTT!!!!) says a lot. 10 minutes left in the game and my entire outlook on the season got put right back to where it was before the season. Now, I really think we are going to be great this year....and fizzle out in the Sweet 16. Catch the fever.

LULZ Duke. Way to fucking lose to Notre Dame. They are just as big of faggots in basketball as they are in football. Letting the ghost of Harangody get in your heads serves you ratfaced fucks right.

I find Duke unfavorable.

UNC!!! Keep that stellar streak of being unpredictable fuck ups going. 3-0 against top 10! 7-4 against everyone else. That is how you win championships, people.

Cavs lost that trade because they now have two Duke players (both injury prone gashes) on their roster.

When you have a really young team, you need to win even if you are nowhere near a championship. Otherwise, you become the Kings. Don't tell me that the Bulls getting crushed by Bron's Cavs didn't help them.

Basically, I'm tired of losing. We have talent. They just need to learn how to win.

Ide likes moral victories. Of course he does.

That comeback last night was CRAY. Craft is unreal. It's too bad Appling and Payne hustled on that play at the end of regulation. Wild game...every time we play those guys it comes down to the final minute.

Thought the Deng Bang trade was good...it would be funny if he doesn't re-sign with Cleveland tho.

No lie....I walked the dog around the block the other night when it was -41 wind chill in just a jacket and shorts. I wanted to really feel what that temperature feels like as I don't know when I'd get the chance again. Pretty sure I came dangerously close to some frost bite.

LOLZ at Buckeye hoops fans and their moral victories.

Talk about being Michigan State's bitch as of late...

My thoughts on the trade - Ok, nice job in going out and getting someone for Bynum. The picks we gave up are fine to let go of as we have an abundance of 2nd rounders over the next 3 years - and we would have never gotten the Kings pick until it turned to a second rounder in 2017. However, why not get someone who isnt gone in 4 months? Deng is a great piece that we need terribly, but no way he resigns with us. We are renting him for 4 months to make our pick in next year's draft worse. Now I understand you want to win now, sure, but is that even possible? Are the Cavs players around Deng better than the ones he had around him in Chicago? I'm not sure about that. I just wish we could have gotten someone that isnt gone at the end of this year - which has been completely disappointing.

If Deng performs well and gets us to the playoffs AND doesn't command something absurd, I would be OK giving him an extension. If it's just four months and gone, I'm OK with that, too. Again, we gave up what will amount to 3 second round picks for his services.

Drew, will you ever see one of your teams win again???

GMoney said...

All valid points, Seal, but getting rid of Bynum wasn't going to get us anyone decent on the cheap for a few years under contract. We were going to have to take back an expiring no matter what. And I would MUCH rather have Deng than Pau for a few months. Hell, at least now we have a defensive stopper. LOL Alonzo Gee being that guy.

I do love that he is great on both ends of the floor - probably one of the 7 guys in the NBA that can play well under Mike Brown. God he sucks.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the deal at all - actually like it, but it doesn't give me a screaming boner.

I would say that this team is a LOCK to make the playoffs...

...if Mike Brown and his GOD AWFUL offense weren't the head coach.

Sorry, how is not being angry with last night's loss a bad thing? Slow Seal, you yourself have harped on our shit schedule all fucking year, and I wholeheartedly agreed with you. We play one of the best teams in the nation in their house and take them to OT in our first meaningful game, and I'm supposed to be butt hurt at the loss? Fuck that, it was a great game and even though we lost, which does blow, we showed that we can hang with any team in the country, which, before last night, I don't know if I could have agreed with.

I feel a lot better about OSU after last night's loss than I did going undefeated the day before.

Having said that, that stupid fucking half time show from the MSU linebacker was the absolute WORST. That floppy haired faggot doubled my hatred for MSU in roughly ten seconds time. I also didn't see how his celebration dance against UM translated to a halftime show against OSU. Fuck him.

Justified was the cats ass.

Thoughts on this Gregg Doyle tweet? And no...I don't follow him...it was retweeted by a Cavs fan....

Gregg Doyel ‏@GreggDoyelCBS 5m
Anthony Bennett shoots 27.2% from floor and has more turnovers than assists/steals/blocks combined. So, yes. Maybe the worst player in NBA.

Coming from a fan of the team who drafted Darko, im not sure you can make fun of Bennett as much as you do (and I am by no way sticking up for Bennett, he blows ass, i just cant let Drooler be Drooler).

His rookie year stat line was sexy... Im not posting it - go look for yourself, but lets just say his FG% was worse than Bennett's. I wasnt sure that was even possible.

Seal

Anonymous said...

"I'm not defending Bennett, but I am gonna compare him to one of the biggest busts ever and try to say he's better than him". LOLZ @ Slow Seal...also way to compare a rookie's stats on a WORLD CHAMPION DETROIT PISTONS team...to a rookie's stats on a Cavs team that is currently out of the playoffs in the worst conference eva. So Slow of you.

--Drew

Anonymous said...

Youre a moron and take so many things out of context... can you not read that I said I wasn't saying he was good? I never said he was better than Darko either. What I was saying is that pistons fans should know the same feeling Cavs fans have in drafting one of the worst top 2 picks of all time. You sir, are the worst.

Seal

Anonymous said...

Yeah, you weren't trying to say that he's better than Darko....you just tried to list a stat that led one to believe he might be...sure buddy! Like I said...way to compare two completely different teams. Maybe the Cavs will be world champions some day like that Pistons team....LOLZ.

Also, I am not the worst...I AM COY.

Nothing that Gregg Doyle says is worth repeating or remembering. Yes, it has been a mighty struggle for the big Canadian. We know this.

I, personally, am lowering my expectations to almost zero so the big fella can just play instead of thinking about everything he needs to do.

I also feel like if he played for any other coach, he would be averaging 8/8 at this point.

Justified was indeed terrific last night. I hope that they keep bringing in NewsRadio characters especially Milos the Janitor.

Here's a topic to chew on...Aaron Craft's pro prospects.

I don't know if he would be a first round pick, but a smart team would draft him simply as a stopper/back-up PG. Sure, he can't score but neither could Eric Snow and he played in the league for over a decade. Thoughts?

Anonymous said...

Yes getting beat up on by the Cavs may have help but we didn't have Mike Brown as our coach so you point is invalid. The plan should have been to tank, hopefully get a top 5 and fire Brown for underachieving.

I would hope the playoff is a lock for you guys. The east is terrible and is going to screw the bulls out of any chance of getting into the lottery.

The sexual tension between seal and drew is ridiculous.

If he developed a jump shot then maybe but until then no. Being Charlie hustle only gets you so far. He'll have to play overseas for awhile before there is any chance of the nba.

Craft has long said he plans on going to med school. While I think he will flirt with the NBA, I see him just playing a couple years to make some scratch then head back to school. I doubt he chases his dream to Europe or D-League.

GRIT transfers to all levels of basketball.

If Timmy Tenor can get drafted in the first round by the next Browns coach (LOL!) then Craft can make in the Association. And if Jason Collins can come out then so can this faggot.

Anonymous said...

I don't think he's a 1st rounder. But, the NBA is full of lazy black guys (Ide comment)...some smart NBA team...see San Antonio Spurs...would probably see the benefit of a guy like Craft giving their starting PG hell every day in practice. I think his scoring ability needs too much work to be a part of a rotation though. You're Eric Snow comparison is good.

Don't sound so surprised. Everyone knows who is the smartest around here.

Everyone is being a pussy about this "cold" blast that hit the US. Last winter around this time when I was working in Ontario, it was -50. That was the actual temperature, NOT the windchill. That will make your nuts retreat to your stomach. When I would return to NC on rotation, it was a 100 degree temperature swing.
