Open Forum: The Only Town That Promotes Bullying!

Who rules?
We’re going to take a slight break from the sports scene today to discuss something that is near and dear to my black heart: Naptown AKA my home town. Now, if you’ve never been, we’re a simple, small town known for our ELITE wing-T offenses, Shell Pizza, and Wayne Park. We keep to ourselves for the most part. But if you’ve been paying attention to the local news at all recently (hell, it’s even getting a little national play), you will see that we are more than just The Tomato Capital of the World. If we were building our city resume, you could now add “rampant school bullying” to the mix. In fact, I’m just going to deem Naptown the “Bullying Capital of the Midwest”.

Some dipshit 8th grader even filmed himself beating the shit out of some other kid WITH HIS BELT. That isn’t really the kind of POV movies that I like to watch but I’m not one to shy away from wanton violence. So apparently almost all of these problems happened at the middle school and the administration doesn’t appear to care either which is hilarious. They just keep letting this stuff happen because what kind of asshole breaks up a fight? It’s kind of hard to gauge exactly what the hell is going on because the local media is so terrible. From what I have been able to piece together:

*There have been at least 50 bullying incidents this year apparently
*No one does anything about it
*One of them happened right in front of a teacher and they just walked away (LOL! ELITE laziness! I hope it was Mr. Fraker!)
*This is Uncle T’s old place of employment so you know that they aren’t very open-minded anyway
*The belt incident, in which the parent posted about it on Facebook, opened the floodgates for everyone to come forward with their stories
*Some parent had their kid on the phone with them while they were being assaulted
*This problem isn’t going away which is perfect because apparently no one wants it to stop
*My former Middle School is basically an Octagon with books now
*Bullying is awful unless it involves Richie Earl and BradyCakes (never forget)
*I should care about this more since I have nieces and nephews that are or will be going through this place

I can’t even imagine how awesome the latest school board meeting was/will be. My 100% uninformed guess is that someone is getting canned over this. Probably the principal. Is it still Tom Condit? I know that it isn’t but Condit was the best. LADIES GENTLEMEN GENTLEMEN LADIES! Gunner was a turkey-necked shitbird. I recommend doing a little research on this and reading some of the parent comments on FB or The Blade or whatever. Their anger is pretty amusing. So I guess if you want to share some good bullying memories from your youth today, that could be a nice way for the comments to go.

A quick story about a fight I once watched at that same school: Buster started hanging out with the druggies and scalawags at some point and sort of stopped being the muscle of our group. At some point, he and Carrizales were at odds. They decided to fight after school one day right in front of the main entrance. Carrizales and the rest of us were out there first and realized that the MAIN ENTRANCE at 3 pm was a terrible place to throw down. Buster came strolling out with his collection of scoundrels.

Carrizales: Let’s do this in the alley.
Buster: No, right here.
Carrizales: OK.

And then Carrizales knocked him out with one punch despite being out-weighed by a good 50 pounds. It was absolutely hilarious. Hopefully, Burke stops by and seconds the greatness of that moment. Again, this happened right in front of the school as the day ended. Hundreds of people had to have seen this take place. No one said a word. My point is that nobody has ever given two fucks about violence at The Snake Pit.

Before I go, I want to lay the blame where it belongs…with our local government. In particular, a certain corrupt family that is trying to ruin the region for their own personal gains. I’m not going to name names, but one of the Bastard Brothers stopped commenting here for what I can only imagine is a way to distance himself from such an ELITE site. Just come out and say that we’re not good enough for you. You’re just another member of Grumpy’s Twitter group #RepublicanTaliban (thanks for that, Drooler). Ape knows that you are spending too much time at the local Asshole Butter Festival anyway. Your opponents aren’t going to track your browser history, bro, so stop big-timing us. Do you really want us to unleash an unfiltered Ide on your Facebook campaign page? Because we’ll do it, dammit. I was raised on the mean streets of Naptown. I know how to cyber-bully, BRAH! Come back to us. You belong here. This is your home. These are your homos.

Hey, if Steubenville wants to be the rape capital of Ohio, I see no reason why Naptown can’t be the bullying center of the state.

Has LS never heard of a fake Google account?? He's just being a rotten little penis.

I was bullied at one point growing up. So was G$ and every other loser that comments here. And look how awesome I turned out. I'm not exactly sure why these kids getting bullied don't do what I did and fight back. Win or lose, it doesn't really matter. A bully doesn't like to be challenged. When bullies are picking a target they usually go for the one person they think will just lay there and take it. The minute you decide to fight back is usually when they stop and go trolling for another target. Stop being such a puss and stand up for yourself. You would be surprised at how many of your bullying problems go away.

Every school has a bully...it's the kids that have been held back five times and are 17 in the 7th grade.

GMoney said...

And I think that you're missing the point. Little shits shouldn't have to get up every morning hoping to not get their asses beaten in by some asshole while trying to work up the courage to do something about it (that will likely fail). NMS apparently doesn't even try to stop these things anyway. That's no way for a school to be run.

Again, it is the fault of the local government. If they did their jobs, everyone would be safe and the comments would be more intelligent here.

This bullying issue really rustles my jimmies. I was never really bullied in school, and honestly no one else was either, except for one retarded girl and this one guy in my class (my brothers grade, however, was filled with Jews that got the brunt of a LOT of bullying). The one time I was bullied was in sixth grade and these middle schoolers came over to steal my lunch money AFTER SCHOOL. I just looked at them and laughed, who the fuck has money after school in sixth grade? That was it.

They are lumping in hazing with bullying which is just bullshit. First off, it's a rite of passage in sports. If you can't take it, then fucking quit and join a club or play soccer. Hazing happens in college and the pros, so you're goddamned right it should happen in high school. I have nothing but the utmost hatred for those people who claim hazing is bullying.

But on regular bullying, Iceman has a point. Stand up to them. I was always the smallest and youngest kid in my grade. But, since I am a huge asshole, I was able to insult anyone ten times better than they could, so I usually came out ahead. Also, my networking skills started young and I made friends with the biggest kids in my class for protection. No one could bully me even if they wanted.

Reactions are 100% why people get bullied. If you take it like a man, they will stop. If you make a yuge deal out of it, then they will keep going.

Basically, stop being a bitch.

On the LS note, what a Grade A moron. He must've went to Bovine University. I post here anon, and I don't show up on any google feeds on this site. He is early enough in his political campaign where he can NOT GO BY LIL STRUT. A) because people don't vote for assholes who go by Lil' anything B) I find it hard to believe Woodward and Bernstein are lying low at the Northwest Signal waiting to break open a scandal, and C) cavorting with the likes of me would only boost your Republican approval rating. If you don't start posting, I will drop a massive HOT TAKE to the Signal describing how you were BULLIED off of this site.

You can always get Olivia Pope to get on your campaign if all else fails.

I would like to hear the story about Baby Burke beating the shit out of high school Vajen.

If memory serves me correctly, there was a bet placed on the fight that if BB won, Vajen was forever banned from Casa Bernie.

I heard from someone in the school administration that the belt was actually one of those belts you get with football pants, so it was very light and dainty and that the kid wasn't even being hit with the side with the metal loops. The media blew this way out of proportion.

Jeff said...

It all starts with parenting, which I'm sure Adrian Peterson could write a great "How to" book on. He's actually pretty good at the art of becoming one.

Ace is bullying his kids as we speak, Sandusky style. That vacant principal job sounds right up his alley.

So the bullying capital of Ohio can't even bully right?!?!?!

I think bullying has changed with the internet. These kids get their shit bullied all day at school and then kids get even more vicious when they get home and just hammer them on their facebook walls. I read a story this week where this girl...think she was 12 or so...jumped off something high and killed herself because of all the bullying some girls were giving her. One of the girls then had the audacity to still talk shit about the girl on facebook...admit to bullying her and said she was it happy it caused her to kill herself. Disgusting stuff. The cops in the area then charged this chick and another chick with stalking or something. Of course this cunt's parents say that her facebook page had to have been hacked and that she would never say that. LOLZ.

Also, not really bullying..but, kind of. That Maryville, MO story is really disgusting. Obama should just nuke that town.

GMoney said...

What? LAME. If you're going to administer lashes to the weak, make them count. You should feel the wrath of an Uncle T whippin'...I've said too much.

Guys, I'm going to say this nicely again, I don't believe that the issue is that bullying exists. It is that the people in charge don't seem to give any sort of fucks that it is everywhere around them.

You are right, Ide. Hazing is awesome. Bullying is weak sauce. NOT THE SAME. Although some dipshits recently seem to think that a good hazing tactic is to shove something up someone's ass. NOT COOL YES HOMO.

GMoney said...

Drew, I read both of those stories as RESEARCH for today's post. I'm glad that those rape victims are way out in front of the camera in MO. That can't be easy but being able to put a face with the allegations will only help.

The girl who jumped to her death was told like every day to kill herself by her classmates. That's just awful. Who says that!!!

You know who was at fault for both of those things? LS.

I actually 100% agree with Drew - social media has made the bully scene 10 times worse. People can hide behind anything they say or post, and not have to face the consequences in person.

The rape case in MO is disgusting. There is some corrupt shit that goes on in small towns across the US.

There is no difference between what went on when we went to school and what goes on now. Society is hust trying to turn us all into pussies. I remember being terrified to walk on the 8th grade floor when I was a 6th grader. It's the way it should be. Know your role, roody poo!

What can you do to stop a bully? Give him a suspension? From what I call, most bullies would prefer to get a suspension because they don't care! Then the next time the bully is alone with the pussy, hegone!

I'll be sitting in right field for tonight's huge game. Look for the guy bullying everyone that partakes in 7 army nation.

Yeah, these parents need to be monitoring their kids pages all the time if you let them have one. You can't let your daughter come home and just see other girls posting "kill yourself" all the time on her page.

If you let one bully push you around in 3rd grade then you'll end up being a bitch for the rest of your life. FACT! As a teacher, forcing kids to stick up for themselves is the ultimate teaching moment. That is TRUELY shaping the lives of youths.

I'm not calling for a nation of tattle-tales but it would be nice if it weren't so easy to destroy some weak, groomed-stubble kid in the middle of the hallway after 2nd period.

And if you let someone get to you on social media then I'm not real sure what to say. Internet bullying is probably the weakest form of bullying out there. You can just be like Drew and not be on Facebook if it's really that awful. Go be on MySpace with the rest of the losers. J/K...kinda.

Cyber bullying is something new that we didn't have to deal with. My days on AOL were usually spent trying to find porn. But, I don't get how these people interact. DON'T FUCKING ACCEPT THEIR FRIEND REQUEST. It's not a hard thing to ignore people online, in fact it's incredibly easy.

I read about some retarded cheerleader who had a ton of text messages telling her to commit suicide. Now, that is fucked up, because clearly she can't make the right decisions to ignore someone, but for the rest, it's inexcusable. Don't give me this acceptance bullshit. If I didn't hang out with you, there was a 100% chance I didn't care about you or your opinion, unless it was a broad.

Making fun of obese people is still cool and should always be in vogue.

I don't get the increase in rapes. Now the Stubenville thing was cray, and this Missouri thing is dicey. I mean, it was video taped, so it should be evident if it was rape or not. I tend to think these party rapes are bullshit. There has to be someone in that place who would here the screams if it were indeed rape. There was no sign of struggle, so they had to throw it out. Then again, with social media, the few rapes that happen tend to get national attention.

Ide

Speaking of party rapes, did anyone watch the season premier of American Horror Story? That witch refused to be bullied after being rufied and raped.

Anonymous said...

Iceman....with these little girls all it takes is their any other person they are "friends" with to say "Rachel is talking all kind of shit about you on Facebook, etc" and then the girl is going to go look. It's weak to say that internet bullying is the weakest form of bullying when it only elongates a day of bullying for a little kid like the girl that killed herself.

Ide...if the 13 year old girl was forced to drink so much that she was unconscious...then she's not going to be fucking screaming while some scumbag senior in high school is pounding away at her.

The new season of AHS, so far, is incredible. The racial undertones with Kathy Bates is a nice touch. This looks to be way better than the asylum season because New Orleans is a great setting for black magic.

Anonymous said...

Drew, nowhere does it state she was forced to drink. They drank at their house and then LEFT to go to the guys house and drink more. Now, leaving her on the porch in the freezing cold should be dealt with. But the rape is bullshit. The dumb broad used her FIF amendment rights and refused to testify. She is a stupid girl who drank too much (possibly the first time ever drinking, possibly not, SHE PLED THE FIF) and consented to sex. Now, there is a law that claims being incapacitated by alcohol still warrants rape, however, it gets clouded when you leave to go meet them and drink with them and then REFUSE TO TALK ABOUT IT.

They got a rape kit done, it was still dropped. The only thing they have to go on is that alcohol law, but, even with video evidence, and pleading the fif, it was still dropped. This proves that people in Missouri and St Louis are completely stupid. It is science.

Some bullying is ok, excessive bullying is not. It's a hard line to Fonda's bullies aren't known for knowing when to stop, but kids do need to deal with difficult people and assholes because SPOILER ALERT: you'll be doing that the rest of your life.

Prime99 said...

I have no pulse on the environment at Napoleon, but I can tell you that the anti-bullying movement in middle schools in Central Ohio has become so over-sensitive to the point that all benefit of the doubt goes entirely to the kid that is smaller, less athletic, and often less involved with extra-curriculars with very little judgment applied to the facts and circumstances.

School districts here are so terrified of this negative publicity, that they know that siding with the perceived weak party will draw the least attention and scrutiny, even if the strong party was innocent.

GMoney said...

I, for one, CAN'T WAIT for Mr. Ace's HOT TAEK on this issue. Oh man, ya'll better put down your salad forks and glasses of soy milk when he pops in.

"It's weak to say that internet bullying is the weakest form of bullying"

Jesus. How fucking weak minded are these kids if a bunch of rude Facebook posts convince them to swing from a tree by their neck?

I was fat when I was younger and took my fair share of abuse from the kids I went to school with. Instead of whining to teachers or contemplating killing myself, I focused my efforts on just beating the shit out of them. Problem solved.

AND...I promise you that the shit that kids write about other kids on Facebook isn't even close to the actual bullying our generation put up with. Because we didn't have social media. Kids had to get creative when it came to really making someone feel terrible about who they were. I find it hard to sympathize with a kid who's worst form of bullying is their classmate writing on Facebook about how they smell like period blood or something stupid like that. Sorry, Drew. I disagree. If you let something as small as Facebook get to you then you have some bigger issues.

Anonymous said...

It's important to assume that Drew isn't on facebook due to bullying.

Pussy.

Ide

Mr. Ace said...

I don't have time to read threw all the comments but I will just say my piece. The comments of "just stand up to the bully" or don't be a pussy or whatever is casualties the entire problem with bullying; victim blaming. Kids get bullied and are then told what they can do to stop it while the bully is just being a kid and didn't really mean it. It's pretty fucking stupid. And Drew is totes right in regards to social media... kids are even more susceptible outside of school.

There are a million bullying programs out there and they can all work but it comes down to buy in and teachers/admins/parents having the stones to step into an awkward situation and so something.

Bullying is an adult problem, not a student problem. The kids learn this from somewhere and never learn that is wrong. Then a kid gets bullied, sees that the bully doesn't get in trouble while everyone is telling him/her what they should do, and they become a bully. Its a constant cycle.

I don't know anything directly with the situation in Naptown. But having a district member downplay is pretty much the entire issue in the first place.

G$-I had a nice chuckle when I read about the classic Buster/Carrizales fight right in front of the school & probably 100+kids without any teachers ever showing up. I recall watching roughly 30 fights or so our 8th grade year.

Napoleon Middle School 8th grade gym class was where I got a knack for setting up random kids to fight each other in the locker room. My job during the 44 minute period was basically to pick 2 people, start talking shit about each one, & build up a furious anymosity between the parties so me & the rest of my class could watch fights everyday. Those of you who went to NMS when I did may recall the Izzy W/Nate M ass whooping that sent the latter to the hospital. This was also where our friend KP honed his goosetown upbringing to become one of the most feared kids in our circle of friends.

Nate-when my little brother (8th grade) & vaughn daddy (hs senior) had their backyard brawl the rule was that vaughn would be banned if he lost. This didn't take though because he stayed & watched the vhs tape of him getting his ass kicked, with rune commentary, about 10 times after the fight was over. He made watching the fight over & over a little uncomfortable since he still wouldn't leave, but my other brother & Dille stole his grass/pipe & he eventually took a hint.

Good times

Oh man, what a great comment, Burke! I must have left before watching Vaughn repeatedly watch himself get beat up by the biggest nerd on the block 4-5 younger than him. I'd like to see a rematch. From what I can see on FB, Vaughn is big into boot camp training now so his endurance has to be better.

Back to proving Ice dumb, do you remember how important it was to fit in back in the day. If some jerk is posting shit on your wall that you only wipe half the time or something, that is going to be devastating. No one wants to be an OutKast. So in my opinion, social media can make it all worse because the cyber-bullies are purposely trying to destroy your street cred. 13 year old kids aren't known for their rational thinking and ability to brush things off.

The Iceman said...

" If some jerk is posting shit on your wall that you only wipe half the time or something, that is going to be devastating"

Okay...so defriend them, block them and make your profile private. Someone get G$ a tutorial on how Facebook works so we don't have to read stupid shit like this anymore.

All I know is that you have to be a pretty big pussy if you're going to let some dick face get the best of you with words on Facebook. We might as well be the United States of Vagina.

The thing is, we ALL grew up through this. Every kid starts kindergarten with a clean slate. Parents should be the ones responsible for preparing their kids the best for socializing with a mass group of people every day for the rest of their lives. Those that get bullied have terrible parents and/or have last names that rhyme with Magner (beer reference!).

If I was the smallest kid in school until junior year, and made it out alive only hating once color of people (who, oddly enough didn't go to my school) then anyone can do it!

I wonder how we would've adapted if we had social media back then. Good god, no parents would have let me come over to play with their kid.

I DO remember that. Vaughn sucked at fighting but goddamn I would never tell him to stop.

I know how FB works. Blocking them sounds great but once Susie Flopjugs announces to all your friends that you have an inside out vagina or something, who gives a fuck if you block them. The damage is done. Johnny Sweetdick, the boy that you have a crush on, already saw it and he ain't talking to you any more. THIS is why you keep reading about suicides.

Drew is right. I think that you forget how dumb and impressionable and over-dramatic kids are. Yes, they are just words to you and I but I have a feeling that my 12 year old niece might have a different opinion.

The Iceman said...

People like Iceman think that kids should be smarter and realize that Johnny just has a small dick. That's why he's telling everyone you have an inside out vagina. A lot of mouthbreathing today. #murica.

The problem is that people like Iceman are the loudest. Read through the comments on FB and whatever news article and you will see a bunch of tards saying the exact same thing. Or saying they will go in and show those bullies...those are my favorite.

Adolescents go through a phase of imaginary audience, a phase where they feel that all of their actions are being judged constantly by everyone. Every kid goes through this, some worse than others depending on their resiliency and level of self-concept. Even the biggest knuckle dragger can remember a time when this happened. 95% can't just brush off a comment. Hell, most can't even brush of a dirty look. We aren't taking about rational adults. We are talking about developing kids. If you can't understand that simple difference them you are probably not part of the solution.

And I do 100% agree that suspensions in these cases are the dumbest things ever. Sending a kid back to the environment where those behaviors have been conditioned is plain fucking stupid.

Anonymous said...

There is nothing wrong with cheapshotting a bully. I got suspended once in middle school for fighting. I guess it was a bully type scenario, this kid threw a milk at me, so I threw a fist back at him. I don't think it worked out the way he had planned, but it was funny, and won me a ton of high fives.

Any time aside from that, I was able to fast talk my way out of trouble or have someone bigger stick up for me. Either way, I had options. So, unless you raise a socially inept kid with no friends and doesn't do anything social or active, bullying should never be a problem.

The thing that most kids, including myself, get scared of is "school records" and "suspensions". Not one college has ever asked for my school record (if those are even a thing), and I have gotten in anywhere/everywhere I wanted by grades alone. So, I have no problem telling my kid to throw down to prove a point. Granted, there is a difference between him roundhousing everyone that cracks wise on him and cold cocking the guy who keeps making fun of him daily. PARENTING.

I know nothing of girls getting bullied, and unless/until I get daughters don't care. They grow up to be emotional anyways, no point in trying to curb that behavior.
