Nothing Has Changed On Champions Lane

Relevant.
After all of the dust settled around the Ohio State football program/athletic department we were all under the assumption that everything was about to change for the better.  Jim Tressel was gone.  Urban Meyer arrived.  Gene Smith somehow kept a job that an old white guy would have been fired from.  The point was that no longer would the inmates run the asylum.  Those days were over.  The school was going to take the power back from the players where it never belonged.  These were all positive steps forward needed to gain back a completely destroyed national reputation and it sounded good.

Unfortunately, it's all bullshit.  Even with a new "tougher" coaching staff and stricter guidelines in the athletic department, things have not changed at all.  The football players still think that they are above the law and that rules don't apply to them.

Friday night, backup senior MLB Storm Klein was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and assault.  Details are sketchy at the time that I write this but I'll just assume he kissed his sweetie with his fist.  When you add this to the arrests of Jake Stoneburner and Jack Mewhort last month, that now makes 3 arrests since Urban Meyer took over 6 months ago.  Or, you know, same old shit from Urban Meyer coached teams.  No matter where he goes, no one behaves themselves.  FACT!

Now, I look forward to stupid Fuckeye fan chiming in with retarded excuses for Urban like "this wasn't his recruit" or "Klein is a bust anyway" and those will be as adorable as they are ignorant.  But here is the thing: if Urban can't control guys that Tress brought in and have been in the program for three years already (who you would assume are more mature than the 18 year old Floridians that are on the way), then what are we to expect once his thugs show up???

UPDATE: Klein has been kicked off the team.  Every coach would have done this.  But he isn't Urban's recruit and was a bust anyway so whatever, right?

I'm not going to sit here like a Gregg Doyel (or insert another internet troll) and personally blame Meyer for having no control over his players.  Is it the coach's fault when his guys piss and run or give their girlfriend a TKO from Tokyo?  No, it isn't.  But it does show that something still stinks in the Woody Hayes Athletic Complex.  These guys are still doing whatever the fuck they want to and not thinking of the consequences.  They are still getting into trouble at an impressive rate.  My point is that everyone expected Meyer to grab the bull by the horns and skullfuck morals and integrity back into the football program.  I'm still waiting to see ANYTHING that reflects that.  Because you would think that if the players respected and loved playing for this guy, they wouldn't still be blatantly fucking up.

You know, maybe that article about Meyer being the reason why Florida sucks now wasn't entirely written on one-ply toilet paper.  Maybe there was some merit to those (at the time) weird accusations by Matt Hayes.  Oh well, just like in Gainesville, as long as he wins it won't matter how many of his players end up in handcuffs.

Damn!  I love it when Fuckeyes get arrested.  These posts just write themselves.  I think that I actually witnessed some domestic violence on Saturday afternoon.  If I have some time, I'll tell the story in the comments.  Needless to say, I did nothing to stop it.  HERO!

What is the appropriate response from the fans regarding Meyer then? This whole post is reaching. It's a clever attempt to rile up the OSU fans here, but not much else. He was kicked off the team, what more do you want? Meyer sitting in grief counselling wondering where it all went wrong?

So basically you are pointing a finger at Meyer for something that happened in Grandview between a couple with a child. Sounds accurate. I imagine Urban let this one slide up in his majestic tower gazing into his xrystal ball. Bitch probably deserved it.

Fun side notes!

I lived next to Storm Klein fir 6 months, and he was a really nice guy. He actually helped me move my things in.

They just had a child.

DV is ALWAYS hilarious. Even in this case.

Bitches be runnin wild.

The appropriate response should be something like "God dammit, here we go again--can't these fucking assholes just play football and stay out of jail".

I'm pointing a finger at Meyer not because of just this situation (as I stated before you illiterate twat) but because wherever he goes his players are complete shitheads. I don't think that this is a coincidence.

FACT-You DON'T see this everywhere which is a common excuse among the inbred. It's a great question though...why do Urban's players seem like they are constantly in trouble? Do they not respect him?

And as I said, just wait until his crop of entitled recruits come swaggin' into town.

I'm alive.

As much as I would love to trash Meyer for being a fucking weasel...and eventually I will...but I can't blame him for anything he has done as a Fuckeye. I honestly think he overreacted regarding Storm(fag) Klein. Michigan had a similar situation with Josh Furman and Hoke suspended him indefinitely until the legal process was over. It turned out Furman did basically nothing and he was reinstated immediately. Booting someone off the team before all the facts are out just makes it seem like he is trying to hard, which, of course he is.

G$ trolls Fuckeyes like Seal trolls Iceman.

Hey, that's great. I don't live in Ann Arbor though (and thus don't care) or have a rap sheet a mile and decades long of players getting into trouble. Just don't tell me that things have changed and that you're ruling with an iron fist when clearly the players haven't changed and disregard your punishments.

Seriously, why does Meyer have zero control over his players?

It was either this or a preview of tonight's Home Run Derby or a recap of the UFC fight on Saturday which I had to sit through at a bar. I went with this. I have no regret.

Anonymous said...

I believe Meyer has changed from his Florida ways and is handing out stern punishments to prove that. All he can do is do what he did...kick the player off the team just like he told them he would do for that type of crime. He's backing up his talk and they will learn. Michael Floyd missed no games after three arrests and two DUIs. Their starting QB is on pace to miss no games while being charged with felonious assault of a cop. One of your biggest reaching posts...fo real.

Cue the crybaby bitch comment by Brady about how Ohio is constantly made the victim by smear articles written by such low class journalists. "WE'RE CONSTANTLY UNDER A MICROSCOPE GODDAMMIT!! PEOPLE HATE SUCCESS SO THEY TRY TO RUIN US WITH INTERNET FILTH!!!" Did I get that about right, Brady?

We'll have something more to bitch about when Urb reinstates Stoneburner and Mewhort after their summer of revoked scholarship. Nothing sets a kid straight like taking away their scholly for 3 months. What a punishment!!

Grumpy said...

Damman always wants to bring up Ben, who has never been arrested or charged with anything. Stick to the issue, players are being arrested. Urban did the right thing and dismissed him; he deserves credit for that. But when does he (or any coach) call a meeting and establish a zero tolerance policy? Get arrested for anything and you're gone.

Hypothetical for you: Tomorrow's Dispatch carries a story that G$ has been arrested for punching his wife. Turns out the police have been called to his house numerous times for domestic disturbance calls. You sticking up for him? Or just for guys who can win you football games?

GMoney said...

Drew, you're reaching when you bring up Hokester and Brian Kelly. Did I defend them? Because I'm pretty sure that Brian Kelly is the biggest fucktard on the planet because, you know, he got away with murder.

If Urb has changed his ways then that is great but I'll believe it when these guys can fly right for, I don't know, six months or so. They haven't done that which tells me that not much has changed in that locker room except for the punishments which would be unnecessary if these guys would act like normal fucking people.

I can understand the public pissing. I do it constantly so I'm not going to hammer those two guys. I do kill them for not being able to effectively run from Shawnee Hills police. That is pathetic. No wonder you won 6 games last year. But knocking out your baby mama (I presume) AND living next to Ide? LACK OF INSTITUTIONAL CONTROLOLOLOL!!!

So am I supposed to hit my wife tonight? I'm confused.

Iceman, yes, the punishment for pissing should be more severe than a $10000 fine (1 quarter tuition that OSU athletes get (ballpark)). Go fuck yourself. You cant even troll right.

And to answer your question, only guys that help win football games.

I'm not gonna apologize for this. If you wanna win big in college football, you have to recruit questionable characters. This is not debatable. What happens if your team goes 4-8 but they are loaded with academic all americans and boy scouts? How long does that coach last? I don't make the rules. That's the way it is and its not gonna change.

"Iceman, yes, the punishment for pissing should be more severe than a $10000 fine (1 quarter tuition that OSU athletes get (ballpark))."

From the NCAA.org website: What do athletic scholarships cover? Per NCAA guidelines, full scholarships cover tuition and fees, room, board and required course-related books. At an in-state, public school in 2009, the NCAA estimates the average yearly value of a full scholarship at just more than $15,000.

So not only are you wrong about valuing 3 months of a division 1 scholarship at 10K, you're also telling me that these guys are taking summer classes. You know...since that's the only way getting a scholarship revoked for the summer would matter.

GMoney said...

No, you come on! I've written much worse posts. And I believe that Ide is supporting his former neighbor so there. This post brought out YOU and ACE so clearly trolling Ohio fans has its benefits. If anything, this post has been a huge success.

And I think we all can agree that you need to bring in at-risk athletes to compete at a high level. But when they act like criminals (see Berry, Jamaal), the nay-sayers are going to be out.

How about a follow through on the tease that I put out at the end:

So I'm at the neighborhood gym on Saturday afternoon training for the NFL Combine, Big Brother, and Run For Your Lives. I'm busting out a quick three miler on the tread and watching A Time To Kill (which should be applauded for their glorification of the KKK). There is a community pool behind the gym and the parking lot for it is right in front of the windows where I'm sweating out grease by the bucket full.

I'm about 2/3 done with my run when I see a young couple going to their car. Neither one look very happy. The white trash guy gets into the driver seat and his GF is not pleased with this development (my guess is that it was her car). I can see her yelling at him to get out. He does after about a minute and gets into the passenger side. I should mention that he was wearing a green wifebeater. I can immediately tell that there is some insane tension between the two now that the girl is in the driver's seat and things were about to escalate.

I can't hear the words but the argument is much more animated now. The guy lunges at the girl and then starts hitting her in the leg repeatedly. I can tell that she's crying and I'm starting to get pissed. Next I notice that she spits right in his trash face. ATTA GIRL! He gets out of the car and I'm intrigued to find out what his next move is now that he has her saliva in his grill.

He grabs his other shirt which was lying in the parking lot for some reason and wipes off the spit only to get back into the car and start suffocating the girl with his spit shirt. Now I'm getting pissed off because this is absolutely not right and they need to be split up immediately. After some more screaming, he gets out of the shotgun seat, walks back over to the driver side and starts pounding on the window again.

I don't know what to do still because these two don't look a day over 16 years old. I SHOULD go out there and punch this fucker's teeth out but is a 31 year old allowed to beat up a 16 year old with a barbed wire tat? Where was my legal counsel! So I decide to keep watching. I made a mental note that if he threw another punch, I was going out there and doing whatever came to mind.

He got her out of the driver seat by throwing her out of the car and pushing her into the car parked next to it. I'm pissed now and I get off the treadmill. Fortunately, he finally starts up the car and drives away with her trying to hop into the open door shotgun seat as he is driving away.

In the end, I did nothing but watch which was the wrong but probably right course of action. That was DEFINITELY some domestic violence though and it was a hard thing to watch. I have the license plate number memorized and will keep an eye on that car in the future. That kid deserves a tremendous beating.

Full time room and board in state is ~$20k. That is full time which is 3 quarters (guess how many are in a year!). So take 20k and divide by 3 that is your per quarter average. Take that and add the three monthly stipends ($1000 a month i think) and tell me what you get. Or go to ncaa.org and fill up on the averages of all D1 schools and sound educated. Why you'd argue with an OSU grad over their own tuition is beyond me.

The STORY and POINT is that your football players are still getting arrested in spite of well-publicized harsher punishments and all that shit that the program JUST went through. Storm Klein isn't the focus, you idiot. The THEME for today is why are you still getting into trouble?

Comprehension, you lack it. Might want to put on your water wings because the helmet is not enough.

GMoney said...

Ide, anOSU is on semesters now. Re-do your math and get back with all of us so that we can all take a nap.

Anonymous said...

Iceman's use of the NCAA average made him look foolish. Ide's math is probably correct regarding the cost for summer classes, regardless of whether its semesters or quarters. If anything, it would be more expensive on semesters. Moreover, as we have discussed before, there is a lot more that comes with an athletic scholarship than just tuition and fees. In addition to the stipend Ide mentioned, these athletes get training tables, tutoring, etc... The total value is at least $10,000. Oh, and they do not get their stipends or other benefits unless they are enrolled in classes, so you can bet your ass that the vast majority of these scholarship athletes are enrolled in summer classes.

-Lil' Strut

The Iceman said...

Thanks for the (incorrect) math lesson, Ide. Still doesn't change the presumable fact that neither one of these guys are taking summer classes. Unless, of course, you can prove that they are. But since they're athletes, I'm sticking with "no way in fucking hell". So tuition could be $1 million per year and losing that summer scholarship has the same effect on both players. Zero.

The Iceman said...

"Oh, and they do not get their stipends or other benefits unless they are enrolled in classes, so you can bet your ass that the vast majority of these scholarship athletes are enrolled in summer classes."

Unless their summer scholarship was revoked which would pay for it all. Then they would not be taking summer classes. Which means the "fine" would be the $3,000 stipend they miss out on for not being enrolled in classes...not the grossly miscalculated "fine" that Ide came up with.

Anonymous said...

I can tell you right now that even if the "fine" is $3,000, it is still exhorbitant compared to what they will recieve from the court. Their court fines and costs will likely only be a few hundred dollars. If I were a betting man, I would still say Ide's math is correct. Although he has not stated what they are, Coach Meyer put in place a number of stipulations that had to be met in order for Mewhort and Stoneburner to regain their scholarships. I can almost guarantee that one of the stipultations is that they remain enrolled in summer classes and achieve a certain GPA.

UGH, can we get Mr. Ricketts to chime and shut you losers up about your math and butt sex?

I love your selective arguing G$. You want to argue THEME and POINTS but you already admonish such retorts as "they weren't his recruits" and "its nothing to be worried about" as retarded. So what is our recourse here? I asked that in my first comment.

You already admitted that the pissing ordeal wasnt that big of a story, and we can all agree that that bitch probably had it coming. So you deftly troll us while simultaneously shooting down our logical responses and dismissing your POINTS as moot.

Semesters start this fall jerkoff. But, that would be more expensive than quarters.

You gave to be enrolled in classes or you cant use the athletic facilities, dipshits. But, in case I am wrong, 3 months stipend is still a hell of a fine.

Again its a cute trolling attempt. But your dv atory is much better. The highlight was "fortunately, he drove away". I love that you stood idly by while this guy was beating this girl thinking, "please, just leave, I really dont want to get involved." That is ELITE. Imagin if you were watching a backup MLB lay waste to his baby mama.

Probably stuff like volunteering at petting zoos and reading books about managing alcohol consumption. I promise Urb didn't say because what they need to do for reinstatement is a fucking joke.

You're right LS, $3,000 is going to be way more of a fine than what a court would issue. But these guys aren't normal, every day people. There is a significant life advantage that comes along with being a scholarship athlete at a school like Ohio. I would hope the punishment for being a irresponsible fuck would also be significantly larger as well.

There is a difference as well between, "we should be good, Coach Meyer sounds like he means business" and "oh shit, we better be good or he will overreact and kick me off the team."

Ice, your bias and hatred for Ohio State is showing through.

Lets not forget we are talking about misdemeanor offenses here (even DV is a misdemeanor). Each of us has pissed outside and in public before. Urban Meyer kicked one kid off the team and removed two other kids from scholarship just from being charged with a misdemeanor. He didn't even wait for the charges to be sorted out. In his eyes, these guys were guilty until proven innocent.

Michigan DT Will Campbell was charged with felony and Brady Hoke didn't even bat an eye. Granted, he eventually pled to a misdemeanor, but Hoke hasn't done shit. Do you stand by your arguments and feel that Campbell should have been punished far more harshly, or, are the benefits of playing at Ohio State far greater than at UM, and, therefore, Ohio State guys should be punished more severely? I can't wait for you to be right on cue and make up some bullshit excuse as to why this incident is different and then call me a cum guzzler or some other nonsensical insult to cover up your ignorance and illogical line of thinking.

-Lil' Strut

Anonymous said...

Hoke sent Campbell on a senior trip to Cali AFTER Campbell decided it was a good idea to get drunk and jump onto the hood of a car at 300lbs.

--Drew

The Iceman said...

Actually, you'll find no bias from me, LS. I feel the same way about my own team as I do yours. Punishments should be handed out to Will Campbell and they should be severe. It's not a right to play D1 college football just because you're freakishly strong, fast or athletic. I don't care what program you represent. Get your shit together or lose everything because there's a million fucking kids out there that would do anything to trade spots with you. I don't think that's asking too much no matter where you play your college ball at. Don't be a dipshit. Period.

GMoney said...

Ide continues to be dumb. Nothing to see here.

My continued POINT here is the same as it was in the beginning: If Urb has total dictatorial control over this program (and I think we can all agree that he does based on his extremely heav-handed punishments), then why are these guys still being fucktarded? I'm no fancy big city college football player, although I'm probably better than Klein, but I would be terrified of what this man has shown that he is capable of doing. It is sort of like a "scared straight" program.

So where is the disconnect here? All of the proverbial math (dear God) adds up to all of these guys being 4.0 students and going to church every day just based on fear. That hasn't really happened though. Either Urban doesn't get the respect that he wants yet or your veteran players are fucking morons.

See? Not a complete waste of time today outside of breaking down dollars and cents! My eloquence and logic know no bounds.

Anonymous said...

Ice,

Its good to see you being even-handed. What do you think Hoke should do to Campbell?

G$,

In theory, you are correct. However, its going to take some time and some examples being made for these kids to fully understand the new culture. By my count, Urban Meyer has kicked 3 kids off the team (Jammal Berry, Dominic Clarke, and Storm Klein). Each committed an offense against core values or was a a repeat offender. He took scholarships away from two kids who committed an offense that can be credited towards a lapse in judgment and stupidity. This would scare most people straight. I think we will still see both types of offenses, however, albeit at a lower rate.

Until the end of time, college kids will make poor judgments when drunk (Underage, public urination, DUI). Hell, I know I did many things outside the Bier Stube that I am not proud of. Also, you are always going to have a minority of players who think it is absolutely necessary to carry guns and get in fights, because they are "from the streets". Hopefully, though, the new discipline curtails the majority who legitimately know better.

-Lil' Strut

Prime99 said...

May the Forcier be with Klein moving forward...

The Iceman said...

I'm not sure what a proper punishment for a first time offender would be, LS. Possibly something light enough where he could still be on the team but at the same time harsh enough to send a message that this behavior will not be tolerated. I realize that people make mistakes but like G$ stated before...I have a solid 32 year streak of never being arrested despite all the dumb stuff I've been a part of.

I guess as a fan, I wouldn't be upset if the worst happened and Campbell was dismissed from the team. I would say a slap on the wrist for Campbell would piss me off more than anything else. Regardless of being guilty or innocent, you made decisions to put yourself in a bad situation that essentially got you arrested. You lie in the bed you make and I respect any coach that is willing to do what it takes to send a strong message to his players and run a clean program.
